Light snow falling at the moment as the mountain is engulfed in cloud (fog?) and there's really not much to see at all. 10cm or so reported by the resort since yesterday and I'd say around that, perhaps more, on the cars at base. Snow/cloud forecast for today and tomorrow, with a chance of conditions clearing, then clearer weather is likely from Tuesday. Fingers crossed it will remain cold this time when it doesn't snow. For now though, very nice conditions to enjoy. As you might have seen on the news, many parts of Japan that don't usually get snowfall were affected by heavy snow yesterday which has disrupted traffic (as well as cause lots of accidents and issues). This may mean that today is less busy here than it would normally be. Keeping nice and cold and it has been changeable conditions this morning so far. For the moment, lovely blue skies above Madarao with just some cloud. A very fine day to be on the mountain. Traffic problems affecting many people yesterday are hopefully cleared up this morning. Tomorrow is a holiday in Japan and so there should be more day-trippers around than a usual Tuesday. But yes, it should be a fine day to be out on the mountain today on this national holiday (National Foundation Day), so I would expect a few more people around than on a normal Tuesday. Clear skies are likely tomorrow as well, perhaps some snow late night, but the next decent snowfall seems to be due around Friday into Saturday. Limited visibility right now as the mountain is covered in cloud and the snow continues to come down. Light snow showers on the forecast for today and perhaps some decent snowfall over the next few day - especially Saturday. So I'm looking forward to the next few reports and hope to bring news of lots of fresh snow to play in over the weekend. Not the coldest of mornings but it's a day to be prepared for heavy snow conditions, but not heavy in the bad sense. Great quality snow on the ground at the moment. Unfortunately heavy snow is cause tons of traffic problems for lots of people actually getting to north Nagano this morning and probably won't improve during the day. As last week I expect that will mean less people actually here. For those here though, it should be a very powdery day. Tomorrow too. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Hurray! The resort is actually open today after the stormy conditions yesterday, but there's not much to see. Is it still there? Has it been blown away? I can't see it! Fog/'gas'/cloud is completely covering the mountain and pretty much everything else as visibility is down to almost zero. It is a cold morning and light snow falling as well. Moderate winds remain but the resort is open. There is a chance that some lifts might still be affected by conditions today, so checks are advised. Things should soon be clearing up though. Cloud forecast for tomorrow and it might even be sunny at times. If we get a clear day in the next few, will be excellent out there. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . An early report from me this morning and more snow to report. 5-10cm apparently on the mountain and I can vouch for around 5cm of that here. Visibility getting a bit better this morning. I did say yesterday that we were expecting clearer conditions today. Well, for now I can't say that has happened as it is still snowing lightly with limited visibility. The forecasts do still seem to indicate a clearing up due today though. Not a whole lot of snow on the forecast either for the coming week or so, but we have had some decent snowfall now and so there's lots to play in. With the weather over the last few days and temperatures conditions are spring at the moment. I haven't felt rain falling on me but we have had some rain.
