It's going to be a top notch day here again as we enjoy this very pleasing first half of March. More sun likely tomorrow too and a bit warmer (it's still very cold this morning), and we are expecting snow again Thursday. Lower down in the valley they are expecting rain but fingers crossed we can avoid that and click straight into snow. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Morning from Madarao and to start the day off it's kind of sunny, and I don't think it's cloudy - more like thick haze. Perhaps there's a word for what we have today that I can't quite think of. But while short distance visibility is and it feels sunny here, I can't even see Myoko properly. Perhaps it will clear later on in the day as we do have clearer conditions forecast. It's going to warm up today after a less cold overnight, we just hope not too much. Tomorrow - borderline wet/snow so we need those temps to keep on the colder side. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . A bit more like winter this morning and a bit of new snow on the ground as well. Up to 5cm where I was at base and the resort is saying up to 10cm on the slopes. Bit wet I imagine as it's not that cold this morning but yes it's better than the rain we experienced yesterday. Snow expected through the day today, let's see how much we can get. Tomorrow, weekend ahoy, and we're expecting to be able to see the sun - and the sun shouldn't be much of a stranger into next week as well. A real warm up is due by mid week... Blue skies above Madarao Kogen as well early on and so it should be a fine morning out there. Sunny, calm, just a slight breeze, new snow, tracks have been filled in.... sounds good to me. Quite a lot of sun on the forecast at the moment actually. Perhaps a slight snow refresh here and there, or a spot of rain if we are unlucky, especially mid week. But we do need to be prepared for a spring-y warm spell in the coming week before hopefully another blast of winter later in the week. He says hoping! For now though, it should be a good weekend! The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Fresh snow! Yes, we have got that fresh we were hoping for. Of course, we want more. About 5cm down at base and on the cars, with the resort saying there's 10-15cm of fresh snow on the runs. It's still snowing too so hopefully more to come down during the day today, meaning limited visibility. We're back down to negative temperatures as well, so it all feels a bit like winter again this morning. Long may it continue! (Though, looks like tomorrow sun is expected, doh! The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . The sun is out this morning which is a big change from the conditions we had yesterday - which was mid-winter like snow and wind too. Lots of snow as well. The resort is saying differing numbers actually. I am reading 20cm. And I am reading 30-40cm. Wind may have something to do with that but I would say easily 20cm since yesterday is what I had to move off the bonnet of the car. Bottom line - nice new layer of snow that will have really refreshed the mountain. It's sunny too; so excellent conditions this Saturday morning. And there's going to be no cooling down either in the coming week as we are set for Spring to arrive properly this time and bringing with it very warm conditions. We've done well though. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . It doesn't seem that long ago when I was starting up these reports for the season... but here I am wrapping them up on the last day of the season. The sun is out this morning, there's still great snow cover, all courses are open and it should be a good last day. (The only thing that might spoil things is the fairly strong wind at times...) I think most people would agree that it has been something of an odd season - not only here but in many surrounding areas as well. It somehow didn't seem to be as consistent as we are used to - though it's worth reminding ourselves of very high standards that we often expect and often get here! There were many fine powder days though and I have some very fine memories of hitting the powder in those tree runs. It's always sad to think how long it will be before I can do that again. The warm up will continue now and no doubt the snow will quickly start disappearing from the mountain. It's shocking how fast it does start to go once we get into April! Of course Madarao is a fine place to be when there's no snow around as well - beautiful all year round and nice and cool in those hot summer months. There's usually a number of events going on as well which are worth looking up. (Get to the Madarao website via the links on Madarao Kogen resort page that is linked to from here).
