The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . It's Christmas Eve! And there's some snow news after a wetter day yesterday. Interestingly the resort themselves are reporting a pretty wide range of snowfall 10-30cm. Sounds like we need to get up to the top of the mountain to check out that foot of fresh snowfall up there. I am measuring close to that lower end here close to base. There's a bit of a wind today and it might get stronger later on. But sounds good. But not as good as what is in store for later in the week - there is some serious snowfall due over the region. Yesssss!! In the meantime we can enjoy what we have got including some sunshine tomorrow. And perhaps even see Mr Santa on the slopes today. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Good morning all. Lots of fresh snow this morning meaning we are on for a really decent start from tomorrow. The resort is reporting a huge 40cm of fresh snowfall; I am not measuring quite as much as that, but it's still an impressive amount. They are able to get the grooming machines out now and are getting everything prepared for tomorrow. Exciting times. (We might even get some sunshine at times over the weekend). Here are the plans... or were the plans... might they open up more with this snowfall? - Open from tomorrow - The Number 1 lift will be operating - 8:30am until 4:00pm - Paradise and Beginner B courses will be available - 1 day ticket: 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for children Madarao and Tangram both plan to open from tomorrow! The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Hello everyone! It's good to be back. I spent a fair bit of time in Toyko over the summer months... my oh my, it was hot. It always is very hot in summer of course, but it was particularly hot this year. I was jealous of people up here in Madarao where life is much more comfortable. Autumn has been lovely too. Beautiful colours and comfortable temperatures - though it has been unseasonably mild for November so far. So here we are in the middle of November. It is now one month before both Madarao and Tangram Ski Circus plan to open... the planned opening date is Saturday 15th December 2018. Right now the mountain is bare but by then there is often a nice base to get things going nicely from the first day of the season. Nearby Nozawa Onsen and parts of Shiga Kogen plan be open as soon after 23rd November as is possible, so if the snow comes and you want to slide before coming up to Madarao... I'll post some more reports here before the season starts with snow news. And then of course go to daily once the resorts open. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . A nice morning here in Madarao. There is some cloud around but lots of blue sky and the sun breaking through too. I think we can expect more sunshine tomorrow with the next snow still due later in the day on Saturday. There's not a whole lot of snow there on the forecast (into next week) other than that though, but as long as temperatures remain low we should be in good conditions through the end of the month. Still... result! The resort itself is reporting 10cm and I actually measure a bit more. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Morning from Madarao. Loads of fresh snow this morning! :) I'd say close on half a metre in places. Wind has been a factor, blowing it around in these mid-winter conditions. Right now there's actually a bit of sun trying to make an appearance through the clouds, so things for the moment feel a little calmer. The Free Ride Park is closed this morning by the looks of things due to the heavy snowfall. Once it's open again, be sure to check out the new 'BANK LINE' features in there. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Morning from Madarao. Ah, sunshine! Around 5cm of fresh snow on the ground and while I can see clouds, they aren't over Madarao. Above us, it's blue sky and sunshine. Lovely. Not a whole lot of snow on the forecast at the moment - perhaps next up around tomorrow night into Wednesday. And then at the weekend. Still, it's good and cold, it's calm and conditions are very good. It looks like the Free Ride Park isn't back open yet. I'll keep an eye on that each morning and let you know. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Good morning from Madarao. Some more snow this morning with the resort reporting 5cm and me measuring a bit more. There is a lot of cloud around this morning, but the sun is making it through some clouds at the moment. The forecast appears to point to cloud with the chance of clearer skies at times for the day today. Same forecasts call for snow to return for the day tomorrow. It is Chinese New Year today so happy Chinese New Year to visitors to our region for their holidays. It'll be a busy weekend so I recommend and early start tomorrow. The clouds moved in and brought us a bit more fresh snow - the resort is reporting 5cm. It is colder this morning after the milder temperatures of yesterday and hopefully should keep below zero and we might get some more cm during the day today.
