I have measured 37cm of snowfall and the ski area is (perhaps rather modestly) reporting 30cm. Their official measuring stick seems to be agreeing with me. Whatever, lots of fresh snow! The snow has eased off and we even have some blue sky appearing along with a lot of cloud. Good visibility. It all sounds right for a near perfect start to the morning/month/year. I know what I'm doing today! And I can't think of much else to say this morning. Oh, more snow due tomorrow, making it a good way to end the year. We had some glimpses of sun yesterday morning but snow started piling up again around lunchtime and I have measured 17cm since then. (The ski area is only reporting 10cm this morning). No complaints! We expect more snow today and at the moment it is light with fairly good visibility. (I can actually see some blue sky on the Tangram webcam). It's staying good and cold, so there should be some very nice conditions to enjoy this morning. And this afternoon! Night skiing tonight at both Madarao and Tangram, through until 4th January. My excuse for being so late this morning is that I had to welcome some visiting relatives from the train station this morning. They were most pleased when they got up here, saw all the snow and the sun shining down on them. And indeed, what a beautiful sight. About another 10cm from later in the day yesterday to add to the ongoing snowfall numbers! More snow is due to be falling by the end of tomorrow. The very nice weather patterns look set to continue. The much less exciting weather of last night (I've already forgotten it) has changed into almost 30cm of snowfall by this morning! The ski area is also reporting 30cm and official snow depth back up to 200cm. What's more, more snow is due through today and tomorrow. Excellent. It is a cold and snowy morning and it feels like mid-winter, though some forecasts have it easing off later on in the day. So it is Christmas Day tomorrow for those who care about such things. After all this snow and some sun forecast tomorrow morning, it should be an almost perfect day for skiing/snowboarding. Blue sky with some cloud. A beautiful morning to be out on the slopes. We might receive some snow later this afternoon/evening, though beyond that the next seems due Saturday night and Sunday. I like it when forecasts use the words 'heavy snow'. Let it be! The ski areas will be opening up more as soon as possible. I would be surprised if there weren't changes for the weekend. There has been about 5cm of snowfall overnight and it is snowing lightly as I post this report. Hopefully we'll get more during the day today. Beyond today, there's an increased chance of clearer skies for a few days --- keep cold please --- before more snow clouds bringing the goods from late Saturday. Note that while the two ski areas are partly open, they are not course/lift connected yet.
