The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here . Morning from Geto. A fresh layer of snow on the ground with the resort reporting 18cm (and 10cm of that overnight). Sounds about right. It is a cold start to the morning and the snow is nice quality. At the moment it is snowing lightly and we can probably expect a mix of cloud and snow during the day. More spring like weather is just ahead. Yesterday we had some stormy conditions for a while though it cleared up for the evening. Resulting in 15cm or so of fresh snow at base. So it should be a good day and we are expecting clearer skies over the weekend with temperatures getting milder. And there is just a slight dusting of snow on the ground from overnight (after a fine day)... just about able to add 1cm to my report this morning. Early on this morning the sun is out and there is blue sky and cloud above us. It is a cold morning with the resort reporting -10C up top and -8C at base, though I would expect that cold-ness to ease off somewhat A special sledding event will be held at the resort today over at the chibbiko childrens area and up to 120 people can take part. IF you are interested in taking part, you can sign up from 10:00am (in the Center Dome). I hope you have a good Saturday. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here . Morning from Geto and the good news continues with 20cm of fresh snowfall to report at base. The official snow depths (compacted snow on the courses) now stands at 30cm-55cm and the resort is opening from this morning. At first they will open A1-A2 courses but there is a chance of more opening beyond that... dependent on patrol. Excellent. (Less excellent is that there might be some spots of rain today as it is a little warmer, hopefully that will hold off; clearer weather forecast for tomorrow). ------- Had to laugh, my google translate converted 'Geto Kogen' into 'summer oil plateau' which I suppose is a literal translation of the kanji. Clearer weather in the morning yesterday with snow falling from the evening... result? 18cm on the ground at base this morning. This morning snow is falling and visibility is limited - and it's a bit windy too. And that's what we are expecting for the day. For the moment it seems that all lifts are going to be starting the day as planned but we might need to keep an eye on the wind situation. Conditions should be good though. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Despite some snowfall yesterday, we haven't noticed any significant increase in fresh snow cover other than 1cm today. It's cloudy with a mild wind, but visibility is good. Snow clouds may move in later, and we might see more snowfall today. Just the gondola, and two base lifts moving now for these last few days of the season at Naeba. The Day Center is now closed. Entry is via the Southg Gate (Number 3 car park). We woke up to fresh snowfall, with 6 cm accumulated so far. Visibility is fair, and the wind is light. Snow may continue to fall, potentially covering the frozen layer beneath with softer powder later today and hopefully tomorrow as well. Last night skiing of the season today.
