It feels like we are going to see increasing blue sky as the morning progresses. Nice morning. Yakebitaiyama were reporting 5cm of new snowfall at 3am -- love their 3am checking time! Kumanoyu are reporting 15cm and Yakebitaiyama are reporting 10cm of fresh. So it's windy and cloudy with limited visibility in places. Some lifts might be affected by the conditions today. Looking like we might get some sunshine on Saturday. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . I'm writing this from Okushiga Kogen - and it's really snowing heavily just at the moment. They are reporting 30cm of fresh snowfall since yesterday, and so are (were) the neighbouring Yakebitaiyama (at 3am). Over to the south, Kumanoyu is reporting 10cm. Bottom line: fresh snow everywhere and a fair amount of it in places. This snow is expected to ease during the day today. We might even get some clearer skies later on and tomorrow morning. This morning Okushiga Kogen is reporting 15-20cm of fresh snow while Yakebitaiyama at 3am reported 10cm. It's very cold and the snow is great quality so with the current weather early on it should be an excellent morning. Perhaps the best (or at least one of the best) so far this season. More snow due tomorrow. Can't ask for much more than that, can we. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Lots of lovely light snow this morning, and it is still coming down at a moderate to heavy rate with limited visibility and cold temperatures. There is some wind but it doesn't seem to be affecting lifts, though some are delayed opening due to the general conditions we have early on. Yakebitaiyama were reporting 25cm of fresh snow as of 7:30am. There will be more than that in places (a friend who works on lifts said there's 'up to 50cm in places'). This snow will probably ease off and we might be lucky to get some breaks in the cloud at times tomorrow. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Light snow has been falling in some places this morning, but here in Hasuike it is just cloudy and calm at the moment. Some varied conditions early this morning. While we might get some clearer brighter spells this morning, snow is ultimately due today and in particular later on and tonight - and into tomorrow morning. If forecasts are right, tomorrow should be another cold and snowy one. Good conditions too! This cold period is due to continue into at least the first part of next week. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . The snow has eased off and the wind has calmed down. It is still very cold and keeping the snow in top conditions. Kumanoyu this morning are reporting 10cm of fresh snow and Yakebitaiyama are reporting 15cm (after reporting 60cm yesterday). There might well be more than that in places again due to the wind yesterday. We have mixed conditions across the region this morning. It is still snowing lightly in places (Okushiga, for example), and in others it is quite bright and even sunny. We do expect a bit more snow today and then perhaps a lot more come tomorrow night. If that happens, there should be a good fresh layer ready for people coming for the weekend. Please note that the official snow depth numbers below are the official snow depth numbers, as published by ski areas themselves. I check official websites each morning and update the information on this page. In other areas of the site (for example the ski area listing pages), the information is automatically updated once a day - but it is still originating from ski areas. New snowfall does not always mean that the snow depth numbers will change, for a number of reasons. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . It's a bit wild at the moment. And very cold with it. Lots of snow, lots of snow being blown about by the wind, very cold and limited visibility. I have just measured in a few places and got different readings ranging from 20cm to almost 50cm. Unfortunately none of the ski areas are putting out a number this morning, so I can't report on that. It's one of those days where it is difficult (and not uniformly representative) to say just one number. Fine quality snow, for sure. Once things calm down it's going to be excellent out there. The weather is halting a number of lifts and the situation might be changing by the moment. If you are determined to head out in this weather, check before putting on your gear. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Quite a lot of snow to report this morning. Yakebitaiyama are reporting over 30cm and Okushiga Kogen are reporting 30-40cm. Sounds good. (Nothing from Kumanoyu yet). It is still snowing and quite heavily in places too. Quite windy too and it feels cold out there. While all official snow depth numbers often seem low here, a few areas still stuck on 20cm seems... a bit silly. So I'm not posting those. There's more snow around than those numbers show. If you like seeing the sun, tomorrow might be a good one for you as it looks like the snow clouds should have (at least largely) dispersed. Not a massive amount of snow on the ground to report, and the wind may be a factor there. We are due a few days of mostly snow clouds over the region, so should be getting regular topups.
