  • Hakuba Now: Wednesday 30th April 2025

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 782cm Posted on Wednesday 30th April 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. After some strong winds yesterday that ended up messing up with multiple lifts and stuff, today should be much more pleasant and pleasing. Indeed, we have blue skies and sunshine, less wind, and the same expected tomorrow too. Funny: you can still slide back to base at Hakuba 47 on their narrow course, but they 'strongly advise' people to use the gondola back down! I think it's a bit of a pride thing; they traditionally want to keep that open for as long as possible every year. Indeed, they do it well! Unfortunately we look set to get rained on Friday through Sunday, at least at times, but we can hope that the last two days of the season (Monday and Tuesday) might feature nice weather. Today through Friday... normal weekdays in the middle of a Golden Week sandwich. Saturday through Tuesday... national holidays. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Official snow depth: Upper: 200cm Lifts operating: Goryu Telecabin gondola Alps Number 1 pair Alps Number 2/4 pair Alps Number 3 pair Courses available: Panorama Grand Prix Super Technical Only upper areas remain open and you need to take the gondola back down to base Planned closing date: Tuesday 6th May 2025 ---------- Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park Official snow depth: Top: 205cm Base: 20cm Lifts operating: Gondola Line A-B pair Line C quad Line E pair Courses available: All open apart from Tree Riding Zones and Lower R7 You can still ski/board back down to base! The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Greetings from Hakuba on this Children's Day national holiday. After an uncharacteristically chilly day yesterday, it looks like it should be a nice day weather wise and a little warmer. All Happo-one lifts are tagged as being 'on hold' early morning due to what they report as being windy conditions up top. Hopefully that will change and they will be able to open. The lifts at the other ski areas seem to be scheduled to open as planned (at time of this report). Tomorrow is the last day of the season for all four of the ski areas that remain open. Forecasts tell us to expect cloud and rain in the afternoon. My last report, too. On Wednesday morning, I plan to sleep in and be completely lazy until lunchtime! • Hakuba Now: Tuesday 6th May 2025

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 782cm Posted on Tuesday 6th May 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba on this last day of the 2024-2025 season. Happo-one, Goryu, 47 and Tsugaike will be finishing up for the season at the end of today. They could all probably remain open beyond today in terms of remaining snow. I was going to write a ton of words about this past season. To prepare for that, since last week I have been reading through all of the daily reports I have posted since November 2024. It was actually a lot of fun looking back and I recommend the same to you. There's nothing like the feelings at the time as it was all happening. So I decided not to write a bit long essay. But what a season it has been here in Hakuba! If you look at the snowfall statistics over the years (here), I observed more snowfall (* at base *) this last season than any other season since the data started to be collected over 12 years ago. December 2024 in particular brought us some fantastic snowfall and it really set the tone for the season as a whole. Thankfully, the snow didn't dry up as we got into 2025. Good times. We can only hope that 2025-2026 is as good. Anyway, like I said, I recommend looking back over the reports and also checking out the archive data in this section. Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed following the reports. I did my best trying to find good up-to-date information every morning (not always successfully). Hopefully my occasional frustrations were bearable! See you in November 2025 as we once again look forward to fresh snow. ---------------------------- PS! Just for fun, here is the final 'total snowfall' totals for the season, as published on the Hakuba Valley official website: Hakuba Happo-one: 1248cm Hakuba Cortina: 1159cm ABLE Hakuba Goryu: 1130cm Hakuba Norikura: 1105cm Hakuba 47: 1061cm Sanosaka: 880cm Hakuba Iwatake: 558cm Jigatake: 553cm Kashimayari: 429cm Tsugaike: 415cm Poor old Tsugaike with only 415cm! Obviously, that Tsugaike data is almost comically incorrect - it's hard to believe just how wrong it is - but it also makes me question the reliability of the others. If I had one wish for next season - other than massive amounts of snow - it would be that ski areas and official sources realise the importance of providing good and clear information for their visitors early each morning. Bye for now. It is snowing lightly now, and generally looks like limited visibility up on the slopes (though down here in the village I can see the shape of the sun through the clouds). We're still expecting heavy snow. And, if forecasts are right, consistently heavy snow over a period of several+ days. Scary, almost! Let's see what Nature brings us. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 12cm Snowfall at base this season 555cm Posted on Friday 31st January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . I was not able to get outside yesterday, but I heard of various lift disruption due to the weather conditions. There might be some more of that again today, and I can see the top lifts at Happo-one are on hold at the start of the day. This morning ski areas seem to be reporting another 10-20cm on the mountain since yesterday. (Cortina shows 60cm on the official site with a timestamp of today, but I am guessing that is just left over from yesterday and so I'm going with ? for that). Light snow still but it should be finishing up sometime today. Tomorrow we might get some sunshine with not much chance of further snow over the weekend. I'm liking the look of next week. It looks like there's lots more snow on the way. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Top: 20cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 390cm Top: 175cm ------------ Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park New snowfall (reported as 'todays snowfall' by the ski area): Top: 15cm Base: 10cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 385cm Base: 185cm ------------ Hakuba Cortina New snowfall (reported by the ski area): ?cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 370cm ------------ Hakuba Happo-one New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): ?cm Usagidaira (1400m): 15cm Nakiyama (800m): 5cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 440cm Usagidaira (1400m): 290cm Nakiyama (800m): 165cm ------------ Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field New snowfall (reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 20cm Village Side: 20cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 330cm Village Side: 170cm ------------ Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 385cm ------------ Jigatake New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 5cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 175cm ------------ Kashimayari Skijo Family Park Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 210cm ------------ Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Upper: 331cm Base: 123cm ------------ White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 180cm Hakuba Now 2024-2025 season Data as Friday 31st January 2025 Total snowfall at base so far 555cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 43 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 38cm (28th December) November 2024 snowfall 42cm reported on 3 days December 2024 snowfall 278cm reported on 21 days January 2025 snowfall 235cm reported on 19 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. OK so we have tons of fresh snow again and that brings with it some other dangers. Excite is good, but take special care out there. Ski areas are dealing with snow early on, so there are some lift opening delays. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Top: 50cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 370cm Top: 150cm ------------ Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park New snowfall (reported as 'todays snowfall' by the ski area): Top: 50cm Base: 30cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 375cm Base: 180cm ------------ Hakuba Cortina New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 60cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 370cm ------------ Hakuba Happo-one New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 50cm Usagidaira (1400m): 40cm Nakiyama (800m): 40cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 440cm Usagidaira (1400m): 300cm Nakiyama (800m): 160cm ------------ Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field New snowfall (reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 30cm Village Side: 20cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 300cm Village Side: 170cm ------------ Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 380cm ------------ Jigatake New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 20cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 175cm ------------ Kashimayari Skijo Family Park Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 210cm ------------ Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Upper: 320cm Base: 116cm ------------ White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 180cm Hakuba Now 2024-2025 season Data as Thursday 30th January 2025 Total snowfall at base so far 543cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 42 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 38cm (28th December) November 2024 snowfall 42cm reported on 3 days December 2024 snowfall 278cm reported on 21 days January 2025 snowfall 223cm reported on 18 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. • Hakuba Now: Sunday 26th January 2025

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 3cm Snowfall at base this season 503cm Posted on Sunday 26th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Well, I suppose the headline this morning has to be the 30cm of fresh snowfall that Hakuba Cortina is reporting this morning. That number stands out with other ski areas to the south, which are reporting much less. Weather maps do indeed seem to indicate that the northern regions of Otari got considerably more than Hakuba Village overnight, and even less to the south in Omachi. Not a totally uncommon pattern. Omoshiroi ne. Still, great to see '30cm' appear again. I was getting used to it! I'm a bit surprised at the low or non existent numbers from some ski areas, see list below. I have myself measured 3cm since last night. Right now it is quite sunny around base; less so higher up on the mountains. But variable, depending on where you find yourself. Mid-week is still looking good for lots of snow, starting Tuesday. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Top: 1cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 350cm Top: 150cm ------------ Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park New snowfall (reported as 'todays snowfall' by the ski area): Top: 0cm Base: 0cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 350cm Base: 155cm ------------ Hakuba Cortina New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 30cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 310cm ------------ Hakuba Happo-one New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 0cm Usagidaira (1400m): 1cm Nakiyama (800m): 5cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 345cm Usagidaira (1400m): 248cm Nakiyama (800m): 125cm ------------ Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field New snowfall (reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 15cm Village Side: 10cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 290cm Village Side: 150cm ------------ Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 310cm ------------ Jigatake New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 0cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 170cm ------------ Kashimayari Skijo Family Park Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 205cm ------------ Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Upper: 275cm Base: 82cm ------------ White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 170cm Hakuba Now 2024-2025 season Data as Sunday 26th January 2025 Total snowfall at base so far 503cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 40 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 38cm (28th December) November 2024 snowfall 42cm reported on 3 days December 2024 snowfall 278cm reported on 21 days January 2025 snowfall 183cm reported on 16 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba.
