Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this season 33cm Weather overview Light snow Wind Slight Temperature - Visibility Poor Posted on Tuesday 11th December 2012 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . The heavy snowfall has eased off somewhat today and we have had perhaps 10cm or so up on Yamabiko since yesterday and just slight snowfalls lower down. Nice conditions this morning as the snow clouds have for the most part moved on and actually there is quite a bit of blue sky up there and the sun shining down on the runs. Not busy at all either so very nice conditions for the people making their way out there. The forecast tells us to expect more snow by the end of the day though and into tomorrow, though likely not as much as it was snowing over the weekend. It's trying to snow but we're not seeing the blizzard that we were hoping for just yet. It seems to have been slightly delayed somewhere, but we are still likely to see good snowfall overnight into tomorrow. As I write this though, it's not particularly windy out there. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 5cm Snowfall at base this season 38cm Weather overview Cloud with some blue sky Wind Slight Temperature - Visibility Good Posted on Wednesday 12th December 2012 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Another 10cm or so of snow to add to the tally since the last report on the top runs, 5cm or so on the lower runs, as the snow tally mounts up nicely. It has been a cold morning in Nozawa, earlier on it was -3C in the village and -9C higher up on the mountain and it probably won't get up to 0C during the day. The snow has eased off this morning and right now while there is still quite a lot of cloud up there, there's also a decent amount of blue sky on show and some shadows being cast onto the runs with the sun making an appearance. Forecast has a mix of cloud, light snow and sun today and tomorrow. Looking to the weekend we might get a spot of rain even on the mountain but hopefully that will be short lived and a return to snowy clouds into next week. In resort news, the Yunomine B course is now also open, so a decent section of the top half of the mountain is open. Hopefully more soon. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Another 5cm or so of snow since yesterday at Nozawa as the snow clouds moved back in later on yesterday. This morning they remain with us with light snow falling on the mountain. Nothing major. The forecast tells us that weather conditions may well clear up today, followed by some clearer skies and warmer temperatures tomorrow. Warmer still conditions likely on Saturday and maybe even some rain, but we'll try to wish that particular event away! The forecasts do seem to be telling us that we'll have to wait into next week though for the next cold front with snow to arrive. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Lovely weather conditions this morning. The sun is out and blue skies above. It was cold overnight but it should warm up a bit today with a high temperature in village of around 4C this afternoon. Tomorrow should be even milder and there's that chance of rain as well. Milder climes will probably be with us into early next week with the next decent snowfall around Tuesday into Wednesday maybe? From tomorrow, more Nozawa Onsen terrain will be opening up. Joining in the fun from tomorrow will be the Paradise Quad lift and the Yu Road moving walkway. Courses that will be open in addition to what we have open now are the Yunomine A course, the Paradise and Paradise connecting course and the Rinkan course. Totally over 15km of course according the resort, sounds good to me! The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . So after some deep winter-like conditions early on we have bounced back in to a warm spell the last few days in Nozawa. It has meant some nice sunny fun days to enjoy and given everyone in town a bit of a chance to get more set up before the battle with the snow properly begins. The resort shuttle bus started on the weekend and also as previously mentioned you can now ski top to bottom officially on the Forest trail giving a 12km run home. With no serious fresh snow for a few days now the base has backed off and we are ready for a top up soon. The forecast looks promising though with temps dropping right down, with freezing level hitting sea side and a good amount of snow on the cards over the next few days Not the huge dump like we received a little while ago but should be consistent, with the decent base should be in for some fun conditions. Those coming now can enjoy the almost private slopes. It snowed for most of the day yesterday and eased into the night, and then we woke up to blue skies and fresh snow on the courses this morning. Yesterday was an amazing day and with the fresh foot of snow there was some great riding to be had on and off piste. There were some big powder stories around the fireplace last night. Yamabiko courses now up to 2m of snow officially. Walked home from the Onsen about 11pm last night and could still see the stars. But when we woke up this morning could feel that wonderful silence that only a good dump of snow can bring. Sure enough it was the first day of the season I really had to dig my way out the front door. So lots of people clambering to get the powder boards strapped on and get up the hill this morning. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Hard to come down after the awesome day we experienced in Nozawa yesterday. People were rolling down the mountain with grins from ear to ear and powder falling out of every pocket. Stayed really cold along with the clear conditions as well. Today is a bit overcast and just 1cm of fresh overnight up top. It should still be great conditions out on the slopes with powder stashes if you search a little. The cold temperatures will probably keep the groomers pretty fast. Down in the village the high temperature of the day will be around +1C. More sun is expected tomorrow and freezing level shooting up to 2000m above sea level. Then Sunday night temps are cascading down and it is forecast to snow for 5 days straight, though likely it will rain before it turns into snow - lower down the mountain anyway. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report. SnowJapan is an entirely independent operation. Our daily reports are not posted on behalf of ski areas or any other business or organisation. Since first going online in 1999, the integrity of this website has always been our top priority, and it is something we are not prepared to compromise. All content is carefully created and written by humans who share a passion for the subject and what SnowJapan stands for. About SnowJapan.com About the daily reporting on SnowJapan.com
