Mizuho Highland is located on the north-eastern slopes of Asayama to the south-east of Hamada city in Shimane Prefecture, close to the border with Hiroshima Prefecture. There are two areas and bases to Mizuho Highland - Highland Side and Valley Side - and while the bases are separate, they are connected on-mountain. The Highland Side base is less than 3km from the Mizuho IC exit on the Hamada Expressway and Asahi Tengston Snow Park is just to the east.

Mizuho Highland has been operating since 1986.

Shimane Prefecture is in the Chugoku region of western Japan. The handful of ski hills in Shimane are found towards the mountains in the south with some very close to the border with Hiroshima Prefecture.
