Tochio Family is a very small ski hill in Nagaoka city in the central region of Niigata Prefecture. When the ski hill first opened the address was in Tochio city, but in 2006 Tochio city - along with a few other towns and a village - was merged into Nagaoka city. Nagaoka city is the second largest city in Niigata Prefecture. Tochio Family is serviced by one 235m long pair lift.
Niigata Prefecture is located in the central region of Honshu to the north of Tokyo and has a 250km long coastline facing the Sea of Japan. Convenient transportation links make Niigata very easy to get to from Tokyo and other surrounding regions. There are over 50 ski and snowboard resorts in Niigata Prefecture, ranging from small one-lift hills to some of the most well-known and popular ski resorts in Japan. While they are dotted around the mountains of the prefecture, most are concentrated in the southern regions - in particular the Yuzawa town and Minamiuonuma city area in the Chuetsu region and Myoko city in the Joetsu region.
