Nomugitoge is located on the southern slopes of Kohachimoriyama in western Nagano Prefecture. It is actually within Matsumoto city, but in a remote location to the south west of the central area of the city.

Nagano Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the main island of Honshu. Most of the Northern Alps, Central Alps and Southern Alps are located within Nagano (along with neighbouring prefectures). Nagano has the second highest number of ski and snowboard resorts in all of Japan and they are spread around the whole prefecture. Nagano city and many of the major ski resorts are located in the northern region.

Nomugitoge is just under 20km from Yabuhara Station and 43km from Matsumoto Station.

Shin Shimashima Station on the Kamikochi line is about 29km from the ski hill.

A bus or taxi from Shin Shimashima Station on the Kamikochi line takes about 30 minutes.

Nomugitoge is located in an area to the south west of Matsumoto city and to the west of Shiojiri city between Route 158 to the north and Route 19 to the south.

It can be found about 1km off Prefecture Road 26.

There is parking for 1400 vehicles at the base of Nomugitoge. Parking is free every day of the season and can be used 24 hours a day.
