Sapporo Kokusai is located in the Minami Ward of Sapporo city. It is located further to the west than the other ski areas located within the boundaries of the capital city. The location of Sapporo Kokusai makes it also easy to get to from Otaru and Sapporo. The runs at Sapporo Kokusai are on the eastern side of Asaridake (Kiroro is on the opposite western side), and this region usually gets a lot of good quality snow. The ski area is smaller in scale than Kiroro, but the weather is usually more stable. It has been operating since 1978.
