As with many regions of Japan right now, the mild conditions continue.

Just a dusting of snow in Zao since yesterday and it is a much cloudier start to the day though decent visibility on the slopes.

This weekend just gone has probably turned out to be the maddest of the season so far.

It's whiteout here in Zao this morning. Crazy wind blowing about at least 20cm of fresh since yesterday.

Yesterday we went from that lovely start to white-out snowy conditions within the day.

Did I say snowfall forecast for today?! Well.... not quite! This morning there are blue skies all around. It's a beautiful morning.

It is a very cold morning in Zao. And I have over 15cm of new snow to report from the village base area, with more surely falling higher up.

Another case of blue skies we were seeing a bit earlier getting covered by cloud this morning.

It is a cloudy start to this Monday morning in Zao with the top area of the resort not visible from base.

Good morning from Zao and a fine day it is too. Lots of blue sky, some white cloud up there, the sun out and a general feel good day.

New later we have with over 10cm here in the village this morning and I am hearing up to 20cm of new snow on the upper areas of the mountain.
