Earlier clouds have been moving on and there's blue sky opening up above us as I put this report together.

This morning there is cloud, there is some light snow falling and there is even a bit of sunshine breaking through in places.

Yesterday as of 4pm it was a case of some cloud and some blue sky, though it was still snowing lightly over at Hanazono. Very pretty.

For all the talk of hints of spring around various corners, it is good to report a good dose of winter!

Winds and low visibility (in places) are back this morning, with top lifts and the gondolas at Village and Annupuri on hold this morning.

Yesterday it was getting fairly bright around lunchtime and brighter still by the end of the day with quite a lot of blue sky out towards Mt Yotei.

Much of Japan might well be experiencing sunny skies and very spring like weather this weekend, but here in Niseko we are still covered in cloud.

I had to cancel my 'research' yesterday and was not able to make it out on the mountain.

Hirafu gondola got moving during the day yesterday and there was even a hint of clearing skies and blue sky in the afternoon.

A few lifts actually (perhaps surprisingly) got to open yesterday as conditions calmed a bit, including the gondolas at Hirafu and Village though not top lifts.

After an early morning brief walk I didn't venture outside at all yesterday. It was pretty wild out there.

What's this!? Beautiful blue skies and calm conditions. Yes, indeedy. We haven't seen much sunshine of late, but we sure have it this morning.

It's a national holiday today - National Foundation Day - and so we can (perhaps) expect more people around today than a usual weekday.
