Niseko Now: Thursday 24th January 2013
Blimey, another Niseko Now report without any new snow to report. What's going on!? Bit lost for words.
Niseko Now: Wednesday 23rd January 2013
So, we're going through this calm and dry spell at the moment. A run of days when we don't get any snowfall is something that we don't get that much of here in Niseko peak season, as those of you following the reports will no doubt know.
Niseko Now: Tuesday 22nd January 2013
Beautiful weather yesterday in Niseko with clear blue skies and stunning views on show. Warmer than we expect and want. Snow conditions of course not at their best in these conditions - there was even some slushy-like conditions later on in the day out there, though especially earlier on in the day the groomers were a lot of fun.
Niseko Now: Monday 21st January 2013
We ended up with a (relatively ) warm day yesterday. Up to 3cm or so since yesterday, with the avalanche report below reporting 10cm. It's a calm morning and starting off with some clouds around but it has since cleared up and we now have lovely blue skies above us.
Niseko Now: Sunday 20th January 2013
Just about 10cm of snow this morning to report from base here. It is a milder morning here in Niseko and only about -3C here at the moment. The closest we have been to positive numbers in a while.
Niseko Now: Saturday 19th January 2013
We have another 30-35cm or so of snow to report from Hirafu this morning. It's almost getting silly. But silly is good, and it's silly amounts of snow we have once again this morning.
Niseko Now: Friday 18th January 2013
Not only did the clouds move back in but they brought us another whopping amount of fresh snow overnight.
Niseko Now: Thursday 17th January 2013
How about another 20cm or so of new snow this morning? Sounds good? It just keeps on coming. It's cold, cold morning in Hirafu here with temperatures down to minus double digits.
Niseko Now: Wednesday 16th January 2013
Today, we beat Tokyo! About 20cm of new snowfall in the Hirafu village area since yesterday. A friend from over in Annupuri who I just spoke with said they have perhaps 30cm or so over there. With more higher up, it should be a good snow day out there.
Niseko Now: Tuesday 15th January 2013
Lovely conditions yesterday on the mountain - great snow conditions, great weather and fine visibility. This all while on the news we were watching people in Tokyo coping with 10cm of snowfall. Obviously they are not quite as well equipped as we are up here, and so it looks like it was causing considerable problems.
Niseko Now: Monday 14th January 2013
Right now a temperature of -7C outside. Earlier on it was snowing lightly but right now it has stopped and we are increasingly seeing clouds clear up and more blue sky appear. The sun is out and we look set to have a fine day here.
Niseko Now: Sunday 13th January 2013
In further shocking news, I have to report that... it's snowing. Yes, snow is still coming down from the skies as I write this report and it just keeps on piling up. The people assigned to moving snow around both private and public have been pretty much busy none stop this season.
Niseko Now: Saturday 12th January 2013
We are already in the middle of the day and all the mountain is open as planned today. Full speed ahead!
Niseko Now: Friday 11th January 2013
So much so, that this morning have 30-40cm of new snow to deal with. You'll see that in the Avalance report (below) 20cm is reported, and as noted in that it seems that there has been more over on the Hirafu side here.
