Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 297cm

Posted on Wednesday 3rd February 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

The light rain yesterday morning did indeed turned to snow around midday. Nice powder on the slopes this morning. Nice bounce but a shame you can still feel the hard underneath in some areas at mid level down.

Vis is about 300-400m at mid levels but foggy patches above that. Low light yellow lenses make a huge difference today.

It does not feel cold, however, there should be winds around later today. It should continue to snow through tomorrow so... enjoy.
