Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 125cm

Posted on Sunday 27th December 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

There was some new snow during the night but more like adding to the ambience of a rotenburo (outdoor bath) - the slopes are not recording any new depths.

The weather forecast is saying bright spells and that might well be the case during the day as currently it is bright out there with fog/mist coming and going. Snow is lovely and sparkly.

All slopes are open bar the Ryuzan (far left) and adjoining Karamatsu lift from the bottom car park; Kotan slope next to Paradise (so still a sliding walk is needed if coming from the Chuo area).

All lifts scheduled to be operating apart from:

- Ryuzan pair

- Karamatsu pair

- Paradise Number 3 pair

All areas open apart from:

- Ryuzan

- Kotan

Official snow depths (as reported by the ski area):

- Paradise area: 85cm

- Chuo area: 100cm

- Utopia area: 80cm

- Uwanodai area: 70cm
