Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

This morning it is on the mild side, but snow is coming down.


It started as light snow around 7am, but has now become moderate snowfall. The wind has also started to become stronger. A fog has started to descend the mountain.... I am not able to see any runs or any part of the mountain.


Conditions mean the top section of Zao Ropeway is currently on hold along with a few more lifts.


Official snow depth (reported by ski area):

Yokokura area: 115cm

Uwanodai area: 160cm

Utopia area: 275cm

Chuo area: 250cm

Paradise area: 250cm

Summit area: 265cm


Night skiing:

Night skiing is planned in the Uwanodai area daily on 1st/2nd March.
