Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 405cm

Posted on Monday 24th January 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

Good morning from a very quiet Zao.

It is cloudy with patches of sun here and there, mostly in than out and it as I'm is likely to be like this all day. It is bright though and very crisp and clear.

The slopes are a mixed bag. Although groomed, they are strewn with a modest amount of powder with some areas more than others (and very nice too). Otherwise they are hard compacted and running very fast. So, all in all, combos around.

Official snow depth

Summit: 145cm

Paradise: 190cm

Chuo: 190cm

Utopia: 215cm

Uwanodai: 150cm

All areas and lifts should be opening as scheduled.
