Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 18cm
Snowfall at base this season 128cm

Posted on Tuesday 21st January 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

Possibly the best news of the season so far.

Proper decent heavy snowfall. I am measuring 18cm, but I am guessing there will be more in places (and perhaps less too) as there is a wind blowing it all around.

It's not the lightest/fluffiest of snow but that hardly matters. Good new snowfall.

Clearer and calmer conditions are forecast tomorrow - should be a very good day.
