Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

Foggy and windy yesterday, though the sun came out briefly late morning.


Moderate to strong winds are forecast but the ski area is opening as normal at the start of the day.


Light snow or perhaps stronger at times also forecast across the week and into the weekend.


Official snow depth (reported by ski area):

Yokokura area: 115cm

Uwanodai area: 160cm

Utopia area: 280cm

Chuo area: 250cm

Paradise area: 250cm

Summit area: 260cm


Night skiing:

Night skiing is planned in the Uwanodai area daily until 24th February (and then 1st/2nd March).
