Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 453cm

Posted on Monday 14th March 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

Morning from Zao.

Just a dusting of snow enough for me to award 1cm at base!

This morning there's a lot of fog around with limited visibility on the mountain and just a light wind.

If it doesn't clear up much today it should more tomorrow and generally clearer and sunnier skies are likely over the next few days. Going to start getting warmer too

Nighta on the Yokokura area finished for the season last night, and the nighta over on the Uwanodai area will continue on until Monday 21st March - so just one more week.

All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Zao Onsen. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report.
