Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata
New snowfall at base 42cm
Snowfall at base this season 605cm
Posted on Monday 12th February 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.
Something of a return to more like mid-winter conditions this morning. And I have been digging and moving snow early on.... lots of it!
How does 42cm sound?!
Cold temperatures, lots of snow falling, windy and limited visibility on the slopes down to base areas. The snow and cold looks like it should be continuing for a few days - and possibly windy conditions too - so come prepared.
If it stays like this today I can't see the night time light up going ahead but check anyway if you are here.
Once the storm passes things should be in top condition.
Lifts and course info:
- All lifts appear to be opening as scheduled - apart from Zao Paradise Number 3 pair

- All areas open
Official snow depths:
- Summit area: 170cm
- Paradise area: 220cm
- Chuo area: 220cm
- Utopia area: 210cm
