Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 443cm

Posted on Tuesday 10th March 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

Some light snowfall to report since the last report (the ski area is reporting up to 10cm in higher areas since yesterday) and snow is currently falling down to base.

It is quite bright though with the sun trying to break though. Light snow is forecast for the day.

Once the snow stops, we do expect some clearer skies as the week ends but it should remain quite cold.
