Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 84cm

Posted on Sunday 10th December 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

Morning from Zao.

The safety ceremony took place over on the Uwanodai base area yesterday. Fittingly, snow was falling for the occasion.

It's cloudy at the moment and it looks like visibility up on the open Chuo area is pretty poor.

A recap on what is open at Zao - parts of Utopia, Paradise, Chuo and Uwanodai areas. I have updated the operating lifts list below to reflect what appears to be open this morning.

We probably need a decent and prolonged dump of snow for more to open up. Later tomorrow into Wednesday shows potential still.

Fingers crossed.
