Greetings from Yuzawa.
November already!
The brutal heat of summer 2025 seemed to last something like forever (mid-June through mid-September), but it did eventually ease off. What a relief that was!
In recent days we have had some chilly and almost cold at times. It feels good to reach for a jacket.
The mountains are looking lovely and colourful at the moment, and we can see a nice topping of snow visible on higher elevations in the region.
The main run at Kagura Ski Area has a covering of snow. It looks like there might have been 10cm or so up there yesterday.
Below are the planned opening dates of the ski areas in Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma. All of those planned dates are, of course, subject to change depending on snow and weather conditions.
Fingers crossed that we will be treated to a) an early start to the season, b) regular snow and c) lots of snow!
Reports will be posted here from time to time over the coming weeks bringing you news of fresh snowfall.
