New snowfall at base 23cm
Snowfall at base this seas 559cm

Posted on Saturday 2nd March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Yuzawa. And a very good morning it is!

We have fresh snow, and a decent amount of it too... around town too. Actually, there's a very mid-winter like scene outside just now. Snow falling very nicely, 20+cm of fresh, nice and cold...

Our Yuzawa measurement of fresh snowfall at 8am is 23cm and our measurement to the north of Ishiuchi is 18cm.

Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 20-30cm of fresh snow on the mountain and Yuzawa Kogen is also mentioning 30cm.

Kagura is mentioning... Tashiro Area being closed today, as well as the Number 1 quad and Number 5 pair lift on hold. I'd love to know how much snow they got up there, but they're not saying. (They are keen to let us know about some free soup that will be served at Tashiro Ropeway from 2pm tomorrow. Important information!)

There are a few events going on around town this evening, including some yummy street food (station east exit) and a 'project mapping and light event' on the lower slopes of Yuzawa Kogen (what used to be known as Nunoba, close to Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway).

There will be fireworks too.

Like I said, kind of feels like mid-winter this morning. The fresh snow is very, very welcome and let's hope we can get more. There is more snow due across the next few days. This 'almost normal' kind of feeling is a good one. :)
