Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 24cm
Snowfall at base this season 315cm

Posted on Tuesday 2nd January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Good news this morning!

Yesterday it was snowing on and off during the day - clearer skies in places at times. The snow was a bit wet really down in town, but overnight we have more fresh snow on the ground around town. I am measuring 24cm.

And here is what the ski resorts are reporting:

Kagura: 20cm

Kagura Mitsumata: 30cm

Kagura Tashiro: 30cm

Naeba: 20-30cm

Maiko Snow Resort: 30cm

So we can expect around 20-30cm of fresh snow out there on the slopes around town this morning.

Light snow is falling at the moment, and it is expected to get heavier later on with a decent amount of snow due to fall overnight and through tomorrow; possibly with strong winds too.

Big number potential!
