Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this seas 145cm

Posted on Sunday 2nd February 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

It was snowing for lots of yesterday so it is kind of surprising to see that Kagura are reporting just 1cm of new snowfall and Maiko Snow Resort are reporting 5cm.

We measured 4cm since the report yesterday here at Yuzawa base.

Yesterday things felt much more like what we expect and it was (of course) really great to see that fresh snowfall and some really nice conditions to enjoy especially higher.

This morning there has been some light snow falling early on but now it is generally cloudy with some blue skies to be seen in some directions.

It should be keeping fairly cold, though tomorrow might be a bit milder again. I am happy to see that beyond tomorrow colder conditions should be back along with more snowfall - the most likely around Wednesday. Sounds good to me. Let's get those mid-winter weather patterns clicked into gear!

The fresh snow over these last few days has definitely been a relief for everyone.

Big picture - all ski resorts are still not all fully open, so we are still in need of more.
