Updated at 10:30am

Good morning from Yuzawa.

The snow clouds have moved on for the time being, leaving us with just a few more cm from yesterday (even though it was snowing for large parts of the day). No fresh snowfall since then overnight as far as I can tell.

This morning we have clear skies above the region. It is a beautiful morning. The mountains and valleys just look amazing with a fresh coating of snow, don't they...

I didn't get to enjoy the snow yesterday myself, but hearing some good reports from Tashiro and Kagura; they were reporting 40cm of fresh up at Tashiro with around 20cm down to Mitsumata.

Today marks the beginning of the season for NASPA Ski Garden, Iwappara, Joetsu Kokusai and Maiko Snow Resort - all of which are going to be part open from this morning.

It doesn't look like Ishiuchi Maruyama are going to be able to open just yet.

The snowfall through yesterday brought with it something of a collective sigh of relief, but we still need much more and we have yet to see one of our full-on impressive snow storms. Forecasts for the coming week are still looking good with more snow on the way from Tuesday onwards, so fingers crossed we will get a decent amount from that lot so everywhere can fully open.

For the moment, most of the Kagura resort is of course open, and operations at the other ski resorts that are open is limited - more so at some than others.

But anyway it's a beautiful morning and with the fresh snow from yesterday, let's enjoy what we got!
