Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 957cm
Posted on Saturday 24th January 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
Very light snow lazily falling early morning and since last night about 3cm on the car. High up Kagura report up to 10cm of fresh snow this morning and Naeba 5-10cm. Maiko Snow Resort reports 5cm of fresh.
Certainly better than rain that's for sure! Things gradually got a bit colder during the day yesterday with the rain/sleet turning to proper snow, but as noted above just a thin layer of new this morning.
Mostly just cloudy now with limited visibility, but the forecast indicates a clearing up with sunny skies possible by this afternoon. Currently around -1C here at town level with a high this afternoon expected of around +3C, and nothing much of a wind that I can feel out.
Possibly light snow fall overnight and tomorrow more cloud/chance of sun.
Those all night experiences on offer at Naeba and Kandatsu Kogen tonight.
