Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this seas 917cm
Posted on Thursday 19th March 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
We did have some southerly wind yesterday and we start this morning with rain. Heavy at times.
None of that is friendly to our snow, of course. Can't see any sign of snow on the roof of the quad lift building at GALA Yuzawa, perhaps it might be managing to snow higher at Kagura (just a guess). So it's not a very nice morning. (In fact, it's quite horrid!
Rain is expected for much of the day, with the heaviest due early on.
Tomorrow should be clearer and indeed over the weekend too.
By the way, for those of you who are affected by hayfever might want to consider face coverings even if it warms up. Not so much today with the rain, perhaps, but with clearer and warmer weather. I had a bit of a rough time with it yesterday (...after a few hours enjoying the snow).
