Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 924cm
Posted on Monday 19th January 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
Snowfall continued into the afternoon yesterday, leaving us with clearer skies (at last) late afternoon. And a very icy evening.
10cm of snowfall during the day yesterday and none overnight.
An odd mix of cloud this morning. There's actually a slight bit of blue sky over Minamiuonuma and it was a bit brighter when I got up but there's more grey clouds over us now with snow due anytime this morning which should continue into tomorrow morning.
Sunshine on Wednesday maybe? Would make for a change!
We only noticed this yesterday but it's very interesting all the same. So far this season on our Yuzawa Now reports here we have observed 919cm of snowfall up until today. Compare that to last season when at the very end of the season we had observed 833cm. So we are already well over the total amount of snow that fell last season and it's only mid January. It's not an exact science of course, but interesting all the same.
