It is quickly turning into a lovely sunny morning and thankfully the rain of yesterday is a memory.

Without a fresh layer, we'll have to see how snow conditions has survived the experience! We can probably expect some icy hard conditions before it gets warmer. It will be mild today, might be getting up to around 10C in town.

There might be some fresh before tomorrow morning, but we are warned of the chance of rain at first (later on this afternoon).

Much more promising is the prospect of some good snowfall incoming soon. Starting around Tuesday? Forecasts currently show it as 2-3 days of snow... it would be very welcome.

By the way, check out the 'sea of clouds' over the Minamiuonuma valley early on (below, looking north from the top of Ishiuchi).

Just in: I'm hearing about a problem with the gondola at GALA Yuzawa --- they are unsure when that will be fixed; check before going.
