Yesterday the report was updated to say it had started raining. It was snowing by the afternoon, though not the kind of snow that leaves new cm on the ground. As expected it quickly got colder as the day went on and this morning not only is it rather cold, but we also have snow on the ground and the snow is still falling!

Resorts around town are reporting between 5cm and 20cm of new snowfall overnight and I can say that I had to move about 15cm off the top of my car earlier this morning. It's actually coming down quite heavily at the moment as well.

What a difference a day can make.

Strong winds are affecting some ski lifts with the top of Naeba and the Tashiro part of Kagura closed this morning.

Unfortunately, this return to winter seems destined to be short-lived. The snow will probably ease off later on today and then a clear, sunny and warm day is likely tomorrow.
