Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 30cm
Snowfall at base this season 1103cm

Posted on Tuesday 10th February 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Slightly over 30cm on the top of my car overnight and blue skies above us for first lifts... sounds almost perfect!

Surprisingly we do have bright and sunny skies above right now - snow is forecast for the day and you can see the clouds to the north of Minamiuonuma... will they roll in as forecast or will we get to enjoy some clear conditions at least for a bit this morning?

Yesterday we also had a few times when there were clearings in the clouds above, but snow moved on back in. Not a whole lot during the day though really, the snow that I report is pretty much all from overnight.

Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 40cm... with Kagura and Naeba both reporting 10-20cm. So it looks like we may have got more down here again.

I don't know if it's really worth looking at the forecast with what's happening now, but it's snowfall for the day today (!) and into tomorrow, easing off in the morning.

First tracks this morning should be excellent.
