Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 450cm

Posted on Tuesday 9th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Morning from Shiga Kogen.

I was hoping we would avoid rain up here in Shiga Kogen, but unfortunately that isn't wasn't case. It was raining overnight.

And it was raining when I got up but the good news is that it has turned into snow. Yes, it is snowing now. Phew. Definitely very mild though (* for mid-winter Shiga Kogen, of course).

There is a dusting of snow on the top of my car, just about enough for me to record 1cm in this report; let's hope that is starts building up again.

The forecast is positive for snow today and maybe heavier snow tomorrow. Look out for possibly strong winds though.
