Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 22cm
Snowfall at base this season 1088cm

Posted on Monday 7th March 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Shiga Kogen.

A really nice layer of new snowfall since yesterday. Kumanoyu report 15cm. I measured 22cm and I feel there's going to be more than that over at Okushiga. Nozawa and those areas to the north got quite a lot yesterday, I see. So it's variable. But bottom line - a good new layer all round.

It's still snowing too, and coming down quite heavily in some areas. That probably won't last the day though, maybe not even the morning.

From tomorrow temps are going to start that inevitable rise, so the chances of enjoying fresh powder conditions are going to be quickly decreasing. We will probably get more snow but the chances of significant amounts are going to continue to decrease from now.

Remember though, while some of the lifts here in Shiga Kogen close at the end of this month, others will be continuing right through May. There's a lot left - time and snow!
