Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 645cm

Posted on Wednesday 4th March 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Shiga Kogen.

Yesterday was, in the end, not great. Poor weather, wind, and lifts affected.

Thankfully this morning is somewhat improved (re: wind) and we have some light snow still falling.

Early morning Yakebitaiyama was reporting 3cm. There will have been more than that since then, and I should bring you news of more tomorrow.

I can report 5cm but it will be varied depending on where you are.

Interesting how it looks like areas to the south-east got more, particularly over on the other side of the mountains in Kusatsu.

Maybe some more snow over the weekend, too, but looks like there's a chance of clearer skies again before then.
