Hello and good morning from Shiga Kogen.
It's like early February.
Heavy snow.
And actually pretty good quality snow too (not heavy wet spring-like).
These are numbers from the resorts:
Kumanoyu: 5cm @ 7am
Yakabitaiyama: 30cm @ 8:30am
Different numbers but wind has been blowing the snow around in blizzard like conditions so there will be variations. Bottom line though - an excellent new layer of fresh snow on the slopes.
Roads are currently covered and you need to come prepared for mid-winter like conditions.
Before the end of the day the sun might break through the clouds and over the next few days sunshine is expected along with milder conditions. It does not look like there's a bit warm up imminent though which is also great news. And --- snow early next week?
Can hardly believe it. Though very happy.
