Good morning!
Welcome back to Shiga Kogen Now.
I am not actually in Shiga Kogen myself at the moment - circumstance dictates that I will there from the end of November.
There has actually already been some snowfall in Shiga Kogen, around 23rd October.
The slopes are bare this morning apart from a few bits that remain in some of the higher areas. (The snow reported in this report is from that time, not in the last 24 hours).
Regarding ski area opening dates:
With the help of some friendly snow making machines, Yokoteyama/Shibutoge is going to try and open this coming Saturday 6th November and Kumanoyu plans to open from 12th November. They are the particularly early ones and there is of course a fair chance that those plans will be delayed. (There does not seem to be natural snow on the horizon over the next few days).
Most of the ski areas in Shiga Kogen open in the month of December. Please check out the archive reports here to get an idea of when things usually get going.
Anyway, I will be back with you at the end of the month and my daily reports starting in December. I will also try to update again before then, especially if and when there is snow to report.
In the meantime, take care and see you soon!
