Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 633cm

Posted on Monday 2nd March 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Here's something novel to report. Blackout! It seems that large areas of northern Nagano have suffered a power cut this morning, including us here in Shiga Kogen. Sometime around 6am it started as far as I can tell, coming back sometime after 9am.

Things seem to be getting back up as normal now but there'll likely be some late lifts this morning. I think they have to warm them up or something ;)

Some sun out now as well and blue skies appearing from behind all the cloud. A moderate wind still blowing some of the snow around.

Not that much snow lined up on the weekly forecast now, perhaps some snow showers here and there but more of a chance of seeing some sun I think. Fingers crossed it'll stay cold.
