Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 692cm

Posted on Thursday 27th January 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Shiga Kogen.

Yesterday was a mild day. It felt a bit like March; more March than January anyway. Feels colder this morning, and it's snowing again. Quite heavily in places, meaning visibility is limited.

As of 8am Kumanoyu were not reporting any new cm, but there has might have been some pver there since then. Yakebitaiyama reporting 3cm of snowfall as of 7:30am.

This snow isn't expected to continue for long (even though it looks set in for the moment) and there might even be clear skies tomorrow morning. And then some more snow.

Feels like we are in a period of bumpy variable weather, hopefully with a proper good old snow storm coming in early February.
