Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 8cm
Snowfall at base this season 1157cm

Posted on Wednesday 12th April 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Morning from Shiga Kogen, where winter-like weather has made a comeback!

Yesterday there were some strong winds blowing about and snow falling. All a bit mad.

It was very wet snow (I think rain is closer) earlier on in some places, but back to snow and there's a lot of cloud and fog around as we approach lunchtime. And wind too.

Not the 'kindest' of weather conditions, for sure. And not the kind of conditions we expect as we approach mid April either.

The official Shiga Kogen site is saying 10cm of fresh snowfall this morning from yesterday. I measured 8cm, so that is what is on the report.

Things should clear up by tomorrow morning at the latest and we should be warming up a fair bit by the weekend.
