Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 717cm

Posted on Thursday 5th March 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Hurray! This morning I do have some fresh snow to report.

The ski area itself has reported 8cm since yesterday in upper areas of the mountain. There was about 4cm of snow on my car this morning.

It's always great to see those top trees looking frosted and loaded with some snow. (Even better when the ones in town are, too, but...!)

As I write this it is largely cloudy but some blue sky to see in places. Quite bright actually down at base now. Should be fun up there.

Snow is due on Saturday, too. Sounds good.
