Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 587cm

Posted on Saturday 31st January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Early morning limited visibility up at Yamabiko, but much better lower down the mountain.

It's unclear if we should expect snow during today or clearer conditions.

As we can't do anything about it, probably best to just get out there and enjoy all that snow.

Lots of people lining up for first gondola this morning. It's going to be a busy weekend.
