Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 82cm
Posted on Monday 22nd December 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
It certainly was not a great weekend of weather for our snow, but at least this morning it is noticeable colder and the ski area is reporting 8cm of fresh snow on the top Yamabiko area.
Just a dusting around base, really, and just about enough to justify the 1cm recorded in this report. There's still a damp feeling to proceedings though.
Friday is looking promising. I like the prospect of possible 'heavy snow'. Let's see if that delivers.
For now, though, a trip up to the top of the mountain seems called for!
(Cloud expected this afternoon and sun expected tomorrow).
