Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 81cm

Posted on Tuesday 16th December 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Early on this morning there's some low cloud hanging around the village, but up top, the sun is shining and we have mostly blue skies.

Just a little snow to report since yesterday with the next snow due tomorrow night. It doesn't look major, though, and won't be prolonged.

Beyond that, much of Japan looks set to enjoy - or endure as us snow lovers might feel! - a very mild weekend.

I think I caught a glimpse of Naski (our favourite bright green skiing vegetable mascot) doing a snow dance yesterday. Always putting in the effort for the cause!
