Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 948cm

Posted on Wednesday 3rd April 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here

Good morning and hello from... Hakodate.

Yes, I am unavoidably away from Niseko this morning and I need to post an early report with less than complete information (and I will endeavour to update this later on in the day). So first off apologies for that.

Quickly: some fresh snow, sunshine, mostly blue skies, Mt Yotei posing with funny cloud hat. A lovely morning and it is keeping rather cold.

More sun is due tomorrow along with milder temps.

Oh yes, the 'Spring Park' on the Shirakaba course of Niseko Grand Hirafu is now open and should be daily until the end of the season on 6th May.

Updated: Niseko Grand Hirafu resort reported 20cm of fresh snow on upper slopes. I wish I had been around to enjoy it!
