Good morning everyone from here in snowy Niseko.
And this morning there's another 10cm of fresh snow here at Hirafu base. It's been there or thereabouts for the last five days now, so full marks for consistency! Good quality snow by the looks of it too - so conditions should be good up there this morning - even if I would prefer just a bit more each day. I must try to reign in my insatiable greed for fresh snow once again though after saying that.
This new 10cm brings the February total up to 228cm (32cm more than February 2015) and the season total up to 839cm. Let's see where those numbers stand come the end of February.
Over the previous two seasons, by the end of February we had received what ended up being just under 90% of the total snowfall of the season (here at base), with 139cm of snow observed in March 2015 and 113cm observed in March 2014.
But back to today.
It's nice and cold this morning and fingers crossed wind won't be an issue as well.
I almost might as well copy and paste it*, but the 6-day forecast remains one of consistent and regular snowfall as well as cold temperatures.
